Thank god for that. Despite there being countless free zip programs and numerous other archive formats that all provide better compression rates, I do love spending money on Winzip. |

lol...true. One thing to keep in mind is that a WinZip license never expires, though. For instance my company bought a single license key back in the Win 3.1 days and it's still been 100% valid for every version since. WinZip's interface is still a lot more polished than WinAce and WinRAR, too...but you're right about there being lots of better products out there. WinACE will more or less take care of everything you throw at it. Supposedly Power Archiver is nice, too. |

More polished? You mean more gay wizards? WinRAR > WinACE > WinZIP |

I just think it's more professionally set-up. The menus are cleaner looking and it's just cleaner looking with fewer errors. To me both WinRAR and WinACE (both of which I use in addition to WinZip) look like someone made them in their spare time. Obviously I don't have have the wizards turned on, and it takes all of one checkbox to turn on 'classic' mode that navigates the same way all the other progs do. It's all down to user preference honestly - I have all 3 progs installed on my machine and I use 'em for their 'native' compressions although I like using WinACE for all of the misc compressions supported by all 3. |
