Right after we brought you the Windows XP Kernel Rollup Fix, that was unleashed on June, 20th by me, I found a new patch for Windows XP, that is also only available for premium support members.
Today Warp2Search makes it available for you to download. It's a network fix, that fixes a problem with the network drive mapping, that is shown wrong by Windows XP.
In this package the file Shell32.dll will be updated to version 6.0.2800.1161.

if you have latest beta sp2 1213 installed then the files in this patch are older no need to install |

The point is this. Not everyone wants to install a service pack beta. Don't say "it's just like installing these hotfixes" because it is not. If you have ever carefully read the Microsoft SP beta emails (of course you haven't, because you're not a beta tester) it maintains that they do not recommend using the SP beta in a production environment. They also recommend that you wipe your computer before installing the final Service Pack version. This is why it is 'safer' to install hotfixes individually, and only as you need them until the final service pack is ready. |
