Hot on the heels of Q815227 - Performance Degradation Occurs in the UnmapViewOfFile Function which we discovered on Sunday June 15th and which The Tech-Report evaluated in a benchmark suite we now bring you the Windows XP Kernel Rollup Hotfix Package which is a complete Windows XP kernel update.
As a reminder the original Q815227 hotfix updated the kernel files to build 5.1.2600.1178 to fix a bug in the Windows XP Hyperthreading support. The new kernel hotfix rollup package includes the most recent versions 5.1.2600.1224.
Patches are available in english and german language versions. Thanks to our editor BILDZeitung for digging these up.

call me utterly ignorant and foolish for asking, but did you get these files from microsoft? if not where? reason i ask is i have a dual xeon with HT running xp for rendering and if i update it i want to know if it's likely to ***** it up or not. |

I can assure you the patches are indeed from Microsoft. If you don't wish to trust W2S, then contact MS at 1-800-936-4900 from within the US. Say that you would like to request a hotfix, and say article 820128. |

*coughs* ahem *coughs* Anyways, my contribution to warp2search in providing the details on how to obtain the hotfixes has now been put to good use. Expect more from W2S and other websites in regards to these. However, I do recommend that you contact Microsoft for the hotfix yourself. |

Wow, this 'fix' actually works! MANY thanks from Seattle for this find. Curious interaction with CPUCooler, where XP seems unwilling to release 'CPU%' information, though XP internally still shows 100% usage, of course. CPUCooler still is working fine, just not displaying this info now. Any other users of this or MBM having this interaction? --Conrad |
