Wondering, do I need serial/key to install it and will a BETA 2 key work?

Beta2 serial works great for installing and activating. Tried it myself.

No idea about the coming RC1 release that haven't happened yet, but it will work with the current Pre-RC1 release that came a few days ago (today for the 100k public preview)

"Microsoft: Windows Vista RC1 Released to Testers"

How misleading is that title? There's no RC1 available yet, not to beta testers etc..

I hope this release is more robust and performance friendly than the last ones.
I remember that WinXP RC1 was *very* close to the final and was hyper tuned. My upgrade from Win98 was a wonderful experience.
That last release of Vista was a MESS. I'm hoping they've cleaned this up. Gaming performance from WinXP was off by 15-20%...and that just won't fly even it it is fixable later.

I installed the Pre-RC1 build (5536) last night on my AMD 3800+ dual core, 2GB RAM, 7800GT SLI system and it ran BEAUTIFULLY.

It installed really quick and booted up pretty fast as well. I was using the built-in drivers and all the effect ran fine as well.

I can't wait to see how it runs when nVidia makes nForce4 drivers that are actual installers (same for the video drivers.)
