just spotted this bit of Info at Nvmax.com!
Since ATi has officially released no information yet on the card this is all based on rumour, speculation and educated guess work, although it is likely to be somewhere near the truth.
Core: R360 (Not the R420 which is arriving later) Clock Speed: ~420Mhz (I cant see ATi taking a µ0.15 any higher) Core Process: µ0.15 (The drop to 0.13 will come with R420) Fill Rate: ~3.36GigaPixels/s RAM Interface: 256bit RAM: 9900 128MB / 9900PRO 256MB RAM Type: GDDRII (or close variant) Bandwidth: 25.6GigaBits/s

I would like to point out the significance of the number 420. Since ati is a canadian card manufacturer, could it be they are going with the flow with the reefer madness. If so, i like. |

I believe it. The original name was 400. Then they made some adjustments as they found more breathing room in the 300 than expected. The choice of adding 20 is probably in response to "they must be smoking something hallucinogenic." It's always fun when engineers/marketing/logistics have some fun with model names and "carve" their own little messages into their products. Another good one was when AMD put their Hammer logo beating some musical notes on a silkscreen for the demo Solo board. Those notes just happened to be the Intel jingle. |

Argh...forgot to say that this would obviously be ATI's friendly nudge to Nvidia saying "Smoke THIS!" |
