Viewsonic VX924 3ms LCD Display

Posted by: Newsfactory on: 11/02/2005 10:57 PM [ Print | 1 comment(s) ] · 2905 views

This display has been making headlines for a number of reasons, the foremost being its impressive 3ms response time. When it comes to LCD displays ViewSonic has been doing well, but much of the focus has been on their competitors, like Samsung. The VX924 marks a major step in the right direction and one of the more interesting displays to come along in some time.

I saw a post about a 2ms LCD from them last week. I guess this one must suck, huh ;) ?

As always, the response time for LCD's isn't the best deciding factor IMO. I have a 10ms with some motion blur (a Sony) and have seen a 25ms with almost none (Dell). I think it comes down to the SIZE of the LCD along with the response time. There are likely some other factors, too.

Personally if I hadn't gotten one last year, I'd have waited for the flat CRT technology or plasma to come down. LCD's essentially force you to use a resolution that your video hardware might not even be able to back up. Unless I want a blur effect, I have to run everything at 1080X1024...which in a game like FEAR, Doom, Quake 4, etc. takes some serious horsepower to do.
