If only the Tribes2 code didn't suck! Running Tribes2 at max detail, I get ~20fps. Running UT2004 at max detail, I get ~60fps. And UT2004 looks *much* better |

Tribes 2 code has never sucked, what sucks is your drivers or possible gfx settings |

Nope, it's the game |

I disagree, it's not the game. It must be something to do with your particular set-up. |

My machine is good and my settings are good. Even if they were bad, it would also be reflected in other games, not just that single one. UT2004, FarCry, Pandora Tomorrow all run fine at top settings. Higher terrain detail seems to be the culprit, the game gets back into good fps ranges when it is lowered a bit. My guess is they aren't pushing vertices as optimally as they could be. Luckily a high-poly terrain isn't important. |

Tribes 1 at least isn't fully patched and is supplied at v1.8. So here's the update to the latest 1.11 ftp://ftp.sierra.com/pub/patches/pc/TRIBES18TO111.EXE |

Since I already had both games I haven't bothered downloading these so I have no idea, but are these versions they have for download the latest versions or do they need to be patched. That could be the problem if they are not the latest versions. BTW, I could run Tribes2 on my old GeForce 2GTS just fine so you shouldn't be having the problems you are having. Interesting. |

Thank you. I really appreciate this, as the auto-update feature in the game no longer works. Very cool, Spear. |

Nice. Does your mommy know you talk like that? Perhaps you should go back to cheating in CS and leave innovative games to people with IQ's higher than 50. |

Tribes 2 is the latest but 1 needed to be patched. Yea, I remember being able to run it at lower settings on my geforce 2 ti at ok speeds. But my newer system still can't handle the top ones: Athlon XP 3200+ @ 2.4GHz Gigabyte GA-7NNXP 1.5GiB Corsair XMS Pro DDR400, Dual Channel Radeon 9800 Pro anyone with similar specs run into this problem? |

This is just sad.. at least I had a valid arguement to why tribes 2 is bad. You just sound like some 12yo AOLer. The original Starseige: Tribes is one of the sweetest games i've ever played. The graphics were good in it's time, and it's teamplay is still better than 90% of the current multiplayer games out there. I just wish they would open source it's protocol so I could code a nice modern engine for it |

Are you running Windows XP Pro? SP1 or SP2 ? How high are you putting the settings? 1024x768 or 1600x1200 ? 32 bit? OpenGL or DirectX ? The reason I ask is that I have a lowly AMD 2600+ at 1.91 Ghz, with 512mb of 3500DDRAM, and an 8500DV 64mb AIW card, and the game moves very fast. But then I run it at 1024x768 in OpenGL and I have CAT 4.4 drivers. Plus, I set everything to 32bit, and move the sliders to half way. |

And if you really want to play Tribes, buy a Geforce instead of lowly Radeon. Works way better and faster |
