Gayspy have posted a new article, which takes a look @ the future of user-made game modifications. Here's a byte:

ID's upcoming DOOM III engine promises to introduce some new advances in ease-of-use and long-term mod friendliness. DOOM III's level editor will be built into the game. This will allow for complex processing in real-time, like modifying light maps within the engine without having to back out and recompile code. During the keynote address at this year's QuakeCon, John Carmack hinted that content created for DOOM III will be able to carry over to the next generation of technology.
