The Matrix: Ripped Off

Posted by: Newsfactory on: 06/03/2005 06:19 PM [ Print | 14 comment(s) ] · 2103 views

Sophia Stewart is pissed off. ?They didn?t expect me to go to the feds,? she says, ?They didn?t expect this case to blow up this huge.? They includes Warner Brothers, Fox Studios, James Cameron, the Wachowski brothers, and Joel Silver. This case is one of the most fascinating and controversial cases that you may have never heard of.

If this is true, I really hope she nails em to the wall and makes an example of them.

It also explains the lack of quality in the following sequels.

I've been following this for some time now because the whole scandal started almost two years ago and found it always extremely suprising how quiet the whole situation has been kept.

Anyway, this is only further prove that the Wachowski brothers (em sorry, the Wachowski brother and sister) are some of the greatest hacks Hollywood currently has.

I was thinking the same thing. The sequels were horrible, and if this lady is correct, it explains an aweful lot. More power to her!

Any true fan of the matrix are aware that the main "sources" are a host of world relegions, myths & philiosophies. Heck, check amazon, theres several (Maybe even a dozen by now) books covering these themes in the matrix & the sequels.

It'd be quite hard to achieve that properly of you're just ripping off someone elses work.

Besides, considering what shes claiming then she must also acknowledge her sources of world relegions, myths & philiosophies. Does that not make her a lazy hack also?

What are you on about? The sequels are great, they continue the same themes established in the first film. There is no real difference qualitiatively between the first & the 2nd/3rd.

The theme has been done in books many times, plato was the first.

She is talking about other stuff such as a messiah and a black oracle, etc.

She also says they directly quoted catch phrases from her work.

Its not simply a common theme shes trying to sue about.

i have to disagree with that, the quality of the story lines sucked in the second 2 films, and failed to captivate me and many others the way the first one did.
I thought the first was great, the battle between him and smith and his own acceptance of what was happeing was great.

their forumula for the second film?
well he battled one smith before, lets have him battle multiple smiths.. cop out.

so you figure, by the third film, (keeping in mind they filmed both together) we'd see something along the lines of him fighting the old man or maybe another agent...
nope... just a bigger fight scene with... smith again?!

i'm a huge fan of the first, but could care less if i ever see the other two again.
their story line was weak and contrived to say the least...
out right boring in most parts.
other than the ooh ah effects (worth seeing in the theater..but only if someone else buys the ticket) i have yet to remain awake, or attentive through the DVD versions at home (well friends houses, i wont own the sequals)

just my opinion.

the article also mentions The Terminator as well..
a roll done by Arnold Schwartzeneger(sp?)
but was originally pitched to, and hoped for OJ Simpson.

regardless of where the inspiration came from, every writter derives inspiration from some source, but the key thing here is.. she got ripped off.

she seems to have got paid off according to betrayerX's link, which is good, but it seems the almighty dollar signs may have made her forget about her comments in the pop and politics link where she states she wants someone to go to jail.

i did find it funny she said that marriage proposals had started rolling in lol, i'd marry her too, w/o seeing what she looked like for that kinda cash hehe.

cheers
