The Creative X-Fi Scandal

Posted by: Newsfactory on: 05/02/2006 10:32 PM [ Print | 5 comment(s) ] · 5327 views

Back in the summer of 05?, Creative announced about a new revolutionary X-Fi audio processor that was supposed to change how our games sound. They said it would be a very powerful audio processor with a 51 million transistor chip. They also introduced many new features and claimed that it would be a breakthrough in multimedia audio. After Creative released their new X-Fi lineup many users complained about the following issues:

Popping and crackling noises. Incompatibilities with nForce3/4 based motherboards. Blue screen of death. Hard lockups and strange behavior.

This "article" is nothing more than a user rant. It is very devoid of any useful or constructive information. Case in point of the mysterious firmware myth that the author is trying to perpetuated (which doesn't exist since it's an EEPROM issue). I agree with some of the posters that his person is simply sensationalizing this issue to draw more hit counts.

Fact remains.....Creative is a monopoly....and acts like it.

I would have figured that the issues would have been solved in the preceding batches, but apparently not for some....(which seems like they could have gotten bottom boxes).

Frankly,I use a Audigy2 ZS,......no issues...but Im also still on a NF2,so I'd hope not.

Just because you may not have any problems, doesn;t mean others are as lucky....

And using "hits" as an excuse for disagreeing, makes one sound fanboyish or corporate moleish.

I got an X-Fi right after they came out and the sound quality is a vast improvement and I've never had the first problem with it. Before that, I had an Audigy which also worked well and a Live! which was a complete POS. So I'd say that they're doing better than they used to.

Almost all the problems discribed above indicate driver issues

Driver issues can be a problem for everyone, if the vast majority has no problems at all(me included, XFI fatality) then you just have bad luck, reboot, or reinstall windows or buy a new motherboard for instance

Just a few tricks

Creative is monopoly (dominant on market) ...
there is no need they bother about customers, bug or issues ...

seriously i wonder why theirs ass is not sued all the time and why they were allowed to buy out some first (as in that time they were already dominating)
