I always find it strange that some games have patches on the DAY OF RELEASE. Not sure if it's just the nature of PC's or what, but when a console game is done...it's DONE. Patching just isn't an option. With PC games we've grown complacent and allow companies to release patch after patch to fix the game and add features. I can understand if it's fixing issues with compatibility, speeding up framerates, or compatibility with drivers...but when it's to add features, why weren't they in the gold release? Mmmkay...rant over |

LOL - yeah, the XBox might as well be a PC though. I think it's a terrible trend, but I'm guessing that whenever the PS3 has the internet "integrated" into it we'll see the same from them. I realize gamers are impatient and hate the whole "when it's done" thing...but I'd rather have a finished product out of the box. Yes, if compatibility issues arise it's one thing...but to add features or fix something that should've never been released is simply annoying. If nothing else, iD is usually good about only making fixes that are either needed or requested long after the release rather than selling unfinished games and patching them until it's finished. |

Think about it... consoles are just ONE unit... ALL EXACTLY THE SAME. They make it work for one console it works on everyones console. There are *BILLIONS* of different computer configurations. The gold release works good on the developers computer but when it ships the entire world gets to see what bugs come up on their hardware. |
