Sony PS3 HUB; September Launch

Next Generation can reveal that Sony is planning to launch an online games service, largely modelled on Xbox Live, currently called PlayStation HUB. We also understand Sony is aiming for a September launch for PlayStation 3 in Japan and North America.

September seems a little quick, but let's hope it's that fast. If it's based even loosely off of Xbox Live, let's hope it's the new one. That's actually the best thing about the 360. The integrated online component is amazing. Everything from downloading demos, live chat, profiles, etc. is very well done. I can already imagine the joys of playing Tekken online... |

I swear...why is that people think that just b/c Sony JUST announced their online service that that was when they started making it? I guess people have "selective" reading b/c they've already said in a recent magazine interview that they've been working on these for the past couple of years. |

I think that was long assumed, but this is the first true indication they've given of an unveiling date. Companies are notorious for claiming that "they're working on something *amazing*" that'll be better than anything we've ever seen before but that can often be taken with a grain of salt. This is the first hard info on anything related to it. If we were to believe everything companies have supposedly been working on, we'd all be enjoying the new Zelda and Duke Nukem Forever by now. |
