It's just a wild guess...it's all subject to change anyway. The XBox360 is that price for the stripped down wired controller model (which will require you buy a $30 memory card) and over $500 if you want the good model & the wireless internet adapter. I can't see Sony undercutting it by THAT much unless they plan on having mutiple models themselves.

Maybe they wont bother with multiple models, and just have an assload of peripherals..

Same thing I guess :)

Yup - more or less.
After reading about the XBox360 pricing this morning...I'm a little baffled. The $299 priced model REQUIRES you buy separate memory cards for $30 and thost nifty wireless controllers aren't even used.

So now I'm stuck paying $399 for the decent model...$40 for an HDTV cable...$100 for a wireless internet adapter (which was lauded as being included originally)...$30 for another controller...and $50 for each game. It's turned into an absolute money pit. While I'll still end up getting one, I'm pretty miffed at how much I'm being gouged for items that should be at least packaged with the "high end" model of the system.

I'm starting to wonder if Sony might just undercut them this time after all. I still think $299 will HAVE to require some other side purchases, but I can't see them making me fork out $600 after tax for a new system.

Correction...ALL but ONE of the launch titles will be $59.99. I think the HDTV cable is included with the $399 kit tho.

They shouldn't even bother trying to sell the $299 kit b/c if you want to play your old Xbox games, then you NEED to have the hard drive and I'm sorry but $100 for a 20GB drive is a rip off. Plus $100 for a wireless adapter is also a rip off when wireless adapters for PCs and laptops go for about $20-30.
