SiS screwed up their new AGP 1.14 drivers : i've downloaded new sis AGP GART 1.14 drivers but setup program installs old 1.12 drivers (by 29.09.02 date) and not new 1.14 (by 24.12.02 date) drivers. Also driver WILL NOT ENABLE 8X MODE but only 4x!!!
I did some research and found an article about this issue : http://xabregamers.dgwh.com/modules/news/article.php?storyid=130
Interesting quotes :
"I was previously using the 1.13 AGP driver (7.2.0.1130 - 10/31/02). Indeed, installing the new AGP 1.14 actually reverts the AGP driver back to the AGP 1.12 revision level (7.1.12.3 - 9/26/02)! "
"it seems that the driver will not enable AGP8x but only AGP4x."
So if you have a system with a SIS chispet and AGP8x, beware of the new AGP driver!

An easy way around is just to extract the drivers, then use the "Update Drivers" button in device manager, and choose the new folder. |
