Quiet Your Xbox 360 Guide

The Xbox 360 is one of the noisier console systems on the market, and the biggest culprit is the loud whirring of the optical drive during gameplay. We crack an Xbox 360 open to see if we can reduce the noise with a few minor adjustments.

We're going to wrap this stuff completely around the optical drive. One sheet won't quite make it all the way around, so just cut a second sheet and fill in the gap with that. After the drive is surrounded in the stuff, just slide it down over the four screws sticking up, so that it rests on top of the rubber grommets/washers.

Why not simply buy some kind of anti-noise wall like the ones you can find at airports? :P
Seriosly, I find it kind of sad that this console is so freaking loud.
Whats the point of a console, which stands in the living room, if its that loud?
My broken DVD player was that loud once and I got so mad I smashed it once the new one arrived.
