QuickTime infects PCs with iTunes

Posted by: Newsfactory on: 06/03/2005 05:20 PM [ Print | 4 comment(s) ] · 1676 views

Apple apparently is attempting to remove any shred of good faith it had with its customers. For sometime now Apple has chosen to force end users who wish to install their QuickTime Media Player to also install the iTunes software. As if the only MP3 player in existence is the iPod and every PC owner has one, shame on you Apple.

Visiting the default QuickTime Download Site greets you with only two options:

1. QuickTime 6.5 with iTunes for Win 2000/XP
2. QuickTime 6.5 for Win 98/ME

No big deal right? You figure during installation you will have a choice to NOT install iTunes, wrong...

Though Apple is misleading everyone, the 2. choice is for ALL Windows, not just 98/ME afterall.

Quicktime and Real are the worst media types/players ever created.
Real is by far the worst of them all. Did you guys ever check your registry after you installed it??? never again will that piece of crap get onto any of my computers.
Looks like QT turns that way too...

This isn't news (been this way for quite a while now), and there's a very easy fix too: don't use quicktime.

I don't.

Besides, latest version of adobe acrobat comes bundled with irrelevant shit also that can't be avoided, so it's not as if apple's the only company that does it...

Its not like every company does this. Acrobat was good before. And because since version 6 there is so much useless shit included, I am still using version 5. 4 Has even less crap, but a lot of pdf files dont work with it anymore.
