Just got word that QuickTime Alternative 1.34 Final and Real Alternative 1.24 Final
are out! QuickTime Alternative will allow you to play QuickTime files (.mov, .qt and other extensions) without having to install the official QuickTime Player.

I'd guess we'll see a new K-Lite Mega Codec Pack soon, then. Either that or combine these two with the FFDShow. |

Much better off to use the real thing, this "alternative" crashes way too much. |

I have used this now for quite some time, never had any problems with stability or any other issue. Who ever created both these should have a huge thank you as the "real" programs are horrid. |

Yea.. I have used this for ages, and never had a crash. It is te REAL program. The guy who creates them extract the codec from the player and there you have it. I hate Realplayer and Quicktime Player, they install soooooo much crap on the computer. |

Well I will try it again, I really hate real player, quicktime doesn't bother me that much though as long as I stop it from running in the background hogging resources. |

lol, I always found the opposite to be true.. The quicktime player is very easy to crash, and the realplayer wasn't so stable in any version I ever tried all the way back to 4.0 (or different system too of course). It's true that sometimes you may come across a funky file that crashes Media Player Classic, but otherwise the Real-alt and QT-alt embedded browser things always work great. |
