Quake 4 Benchmarks

Posted by: Newsfactory on: 10/19/2005 05:30 PM [ Print | 4 comment(s) ] · 2557 views

I have posted up our initial benchmarks for Quake 4 with our own custom demo. I used my personal gaming system with an Athlon 64 X2 3800+ and the Radeon X850XT PE. Expect more numbers to come.

Hmmm. That's a pretty quick system and it's not pulling any big numbers, either. Makes you wonder what a more "middle of the road" or even a higher end system that's a little older.
I'll reserve judgement for it when I see it, but I'm still none to fond of the Doom 3 engine.
I wonder how the 360 version runs in HD mode.

it is odd, my AMD 3200+ Barton and BFG 6600GT played Doom3 perfectly fine. I'm hoping it will work as well for Quake 4 also.

Well, runs like crap on my machine, even @ 640*480 (3200+ @ 2.5Ghz, GF6800GT, 1Gb RAM). I've checked a bunch of forums and it seems quite random who gets these problems and who doesn't. I've seen old AthlonXP's with Geforce FX5200's run better than my system.

Tried drivers, killing processes, tweaking the cfg-file etc... I'll wait for a patch or a solution before bothering with Q4 again... :(

A friend of mine has this problem with a similar system. What he has found is that some of the capacitors on his MB are going bad. This has caused problems wit h is Nvidia vid card causing much lower FPS in games then he has enjoyed in the past.
