Looking at the official press site of SCEA, we noticed that the PS3 with the 20 gigabyte hard drive seemed to lack HDMI support. This seems to be confirmed by an offical press release from SCEA, which indicates via comparison between the two systems.
However, it also indicates that the 20 gigabyte system won't have Memory Stick, SD or Compact Flash reading capability or WiFi support.

? but HDMI is fast becoming a standard. why **** it? it'll be the new scart when HD becomes standard. or would you rather stick to using two different cable types or stick with analog audio and SD visuals. lol |

so it looks like the 20gb $500 buyers will be heavily subsidisiing the 60gb $600 buyers. |

oh and it seems they are ditching HDMI in general. bit silly really. unless it has DVI output as well as optical/digital audio out. |
