Copy protection mechanisms on current audio CD's have no future in opinion of Philips. Philips spokesperson Klaus Petri told the press agency Reuters, its company counts on the fact that the refusal of the consumers will convince the music industry to step back from copy-protected CD's. Petri thought loudly about the fact that Philips could sue the manufacturers of CD's with copy protection, as Philips is a manager of world-wide CD-patents, because they would not correspond to the standards.
