Nvidia Teasing - Something Is Coming...

It seems that Nvidia is up to something new again. Bryan Del Rizzo, Nvidia's Platform PR Manager, sent the logo you see on the left hand side to a couple of websites. Whatever it is, I think it's safe to assume that it's somehow nForce related, because that's what Mr. Rizzo's department is responsible for. Chinese GZeasy seems to agree with me and speculates that Nvidia is going to release a new WHQL certified driver set next Tuesday (4 days to go) with 2.45 as a version tag. I can not verify this, but you never know. DVHardware first was under the impression that it could be the highly anticipated nForce overclocking utility but information is that this will be called NVOverclock. I guess we're all in for a surprise.

As far as the retraction from NvNews goes, what a joke they are. I wouldn't pay attention to a word those pack boobs have to say. I swear they get practically everything wrong and have to retract like that all the time. They are a joke. As for what Speed^n means, it maybe the Nforce Drivers. However, I tend to doubt this. I suspect it's the Nforce3 chipset for the AMD Hammer series of CPU's they are going to trumpet. Nforce3 mobo's are making the rounds (Asus SK8n in particular pops to mind) with reviews/previews popping up on the 'net here and there. However, if you look on Nvidia's website, there is nothing about the Nforce3. I suspect they are about to make a big splash about it on their website. Another possibility is the announcement of a yet unnaounced chipset. Rumours are flying around like crazy that Nvidia is preparing a dual workstation chip for Opteron which will have PCI-X in it. I doubt this is what they are about to announce, but... |

Uhm.. they will have a dual cpu workstation chipset, but it's the same as the Nforce3 Pro, as it suports two cpu's or rather, two Opteron's supports 1 chipset. The Opteron design is a bit odd with AMD's hyper transport buses, but the 14x series only has two, one for chipset and one for memory, while the 24x and 84x has 3, so you can link one cpu to the next. This also means that each cpu can have two chipsets and a memory bank. So in reality you could use to AGP tunnels and get to AGP slots on a mobo, but this might be a bit to complicated. But as I said, the Nforce3 Pro is compatible with 2 Opteron CPU's and Nvidia already have board samples that they are testing. Just to clarify something, the Nforce3 is the consumer Athlon 64 chipset, while the Nforce3 Pro is for the Opteron. Not sure what the real differences are though, but I wouldn't think it's a whole bunch of things. |

I highly doubt its nforce 3 who the hell would buy it anyway? its going to cost a fortune and its not like the opteron chip is even for sale.. I remember somewhere saying Hammer uses dif pin out than opteron or athlon.. one of them is dif.. hope its nforce 2 drivers |
