July 16th was the day when Nvidia began teasing enthusiasts and company fans with the "Speed N" logo sent out to various websites. It wasn't neither the new nForce drivers nor is it any overclocking utility to come sometime soon. It is actually an overclocking contest being held by Nvidia at Quakecon 2003.
More details here.

Nvidia is like a pimp with ugly azz ho's. They have little of substance to offer so they oversell the hype. approx 2+ weeks of mystery for a lame azz contest? I have a new slogan for them, Nvidia, Dont believe the Hype! It makes me puke to see a once great company reduced to marketing hype. Heads should roll at Nvidia, starting with the CEO. I see it as the only way they regain credibility in my eyes. I dont trust them anymore. too much bullshit aka hype. Where are the Nforce2 ide drivers? Where is the overclocking utility? Where is the new sound storm control panel? All hyped, no delivery. put your money where your mouth is Nvidia. |

LOL Shows how much some of you know of product devloment... I think this is a great Idea, and will help in processing faster core and mem speeds of future chips. As for what one of you had said, overclocking is mostly luck.. I beg to differ with you.. There is a science to it... What processor, case temp, FSB, AGP X speeds, Motherboard make and models, drivers and some other goodies that go along with overclocking. Again, in the end this will help nvidia to produce faster chipsets.. Not that I'm a nVidia fan. But I can see this helping them out down the road. |

No not really, its a stunt nothing more, its unlikely nvidia will get much technical info from it. Your right to a degree overclocking is an art, but even so you still have to have a high degree of luck. Not all boards of the same revision or even batch will overclock to the same degree. I have 2 Abit NF7-S boards. The revision 1.0 board i have will clock higher than the version 2 board i have even though the revision 2 has the ultra 400 chipset. |
Again, in the end this will help nvidia to produce faster chipsets..
This will not help make faster chips & i'll tell you why.. Every1 there will be working with out dated AGP cards... Its fact that Nvidia will be going to PCI Express.. This is nothing more than a BS PR scam... With all the crap that Nvidia has pulled in the past 8 months they have no idea what to do to get some credibility back.. When has Nvidia ever put on a contest & much less... When has Nvidia ever put on a contest that was so freaking ridiculous? They don't even release drivers with the option to OC!!! So now all the sudden after months of deceiving the public, going off on Omega about tweaking drivers, & releasing video cards that can not compete in t he market... WTF is this weak sh*t!?!?! Nvidia deserves to die a 3dfx death.... |

Well you make a few good points.. Over all I think for any VGA company to get with it's consumers, and see what they are doing to get better performance out of there cards, will in fact help down the road when it comes to product development. I also agree that nVidia needs to sell the company. After all, there the ones that put 3dfx out of business when the took them over.. At the time when 3dfx was out, they were putting cards out that was blowing away nvidas products.. nVidia had more money and 3dfx had poor management. Over all, as of now I have a nVidia card, but can hostly say that my next card will be from ATI. |
