Nvidia Shimmering Issue

The shimmering issue is being addressed by NVIDIA and they hope to have a fix soon. Brian Burke from NVIDIA e-mailed us regarding it (see quote below). Meanwhile, you can check out some possible approaches to reduce or eliminate shimmering in some of your games in our forums.

Could someone point out what this shimmering issue is about? This is the first time I'm hearing about it, and I have an nVidia card. |

This is a long known issue with NV40 & now worse with G70 texture output. Whether it's just a symptom of Nvidia offloading filtering or an issue with their tex caching isn't known for sure yet. Some games/apps are worse than others. D3 isn't much of a prob with it's dark textures, but other games can drive you to distraction. If you haven't noticed it yet, don't bother finding out about it. It'll drive you nuts when you start noticing texture crawling...  |
