Release Notes - WHQL certified kit for nForce, nForce2, and nForce3 - First release of NVIDIA IDE driver for Windows XP and Windows 2000 (I'm scared to death...) - General compatibility fixes - Audio Improvements: Realtek ALC655 codec support added Fix for BSOD on loading DLS files Reduced susceptibility to audio glitches under heavy system load; additional fixes for 6 channel GetPosition glitches ASIO support for recording at sample rates other than 48kHz; lower and more predictable latency Fixes for NOLF. The 3D minimum and maximum distance and the roll off factor were not being taken into account for air absorption. Also modified reverb gain so that the max distance was taken into account Fix for EAX reverbs; initialized EAX reverbs to off when querying for the EAX listener interface; updated EAX property handlers to ignore invalid parameters instead of range limiting -- this matches Creative EAX behavior |

I installed these drivers on my GA-7N400 PRO2 setup under WinXP fine. However, when I rebooted, it took over 5 minutes for my machine to load windows (it normally takes just under 30 seconds from POST to the GUI), and when it did load, everything felt like it was on an underclocked 386. I couldn't even get the start menu to load, and had to cold reboot and load my last good configuration. I've tried installing them twice now (after using system restore to go back to my setup prior-install), and its the same shit. This occurs whether I install over my current nforce drivers, or whether I uninstall them from the add/remove panel first. If you're gonna use them, make sure you backup beforehand. Without the system restore tool in XP, things could have got messy for me. |

If you already have the previous version of the nforce drivers, I'd advise you to install these over the old ones. I usually don't like to do it this way, but you won't run into any stability problems. On my first attempt I uninstalled the old ones, and everything went haywire. Thank God for System Restore. |

Seems my problem lies with the new IDE drivers. I've been following instructions from various people about correct installation of the above driver (remove old instances, reboot, let it find the hardware, reboot, install the nforce drivers and so on), and still the problem remained. But when I install the suite WITHOUT the IDE driver, everything is fine. Weirdness in the extreme (i've got 2 IBM drives at 130gb and 75gb respectively). |

yes working package .... the new IDE driver does NOT give any performance improvement ... BUT what seems to be nice ..... I have 2x 80GB both could run at 56MB/s but when I run both at one the perf. drops down to 70MB/s for both and the read rate is very very unstable with the new driver it is still limited to 70MB BUT both run stable at 35MB/s ... at least that works and if you look at versions no other performance improvement can be .... so it cant be lower just audio IDE and network .. |

I did a quick File System Benchmark using Sandra 2004. First I ran the test using nForce 2.45 WHQL drivers on my Seagate 120GB S-ATA drive: Drive Index : 30570 kB/s Buffered Read : 86 MB/s Sequential Read : 44 MB/s Random Read : 7 MB/s Buffered Write : 78 MB/s Sequential Write : 47 MB/s Random Write : 9 MB/s Average Access Time : 8 ms (estimated) Then I installed the nForce 3.13 WHQL drivers and ran the test again. Look at the new numbers! nForce 3.13 WHQL Drive Index : 35209 kB/s Benchmark Breakdown Buffered Read : 88 MB/s Sequential Read : 51 MB/s Random Read : 8 MB/s Buffered Write : 78 MB/s Sequential Write : 52 MB/s Random Write : 10 MB/s Average Access Time : 7 ms (estimated) Marvelous increase in performance! 4639 kB/s extra |

Everything good so far. I cant really say how good the IDE drivers are, i only have a DVD writer on the IDE, i use SATA. Everything else is good, audio is much better. |

Have you tried going into the Device Manager, going to the IDE section, going to the properties of the Primary IDE (or Secondary depending on where your HD(s) are located), going into the Advanced Settings tab, and then seeing if it's set to DMA if available? I've had it reset to PIO mode before and that's when everything was insanely slow. Once I changed it back, it went back to UDMA Mode 6 (which should be ATA133) for me. :-) |

Only the IDE is of any use to me and I think I will hold off on that until reports are it's safe with no file corruption as per NVidias original attempt. To be honest I can't see anything wrong with the M$ IDE drivers anyway? |
