First of all, let me just say this - I'm really shocked! About 10 minutes ago I was just browsing through nVnews.net forums when I noticed a post by....wait for it...NVIDIA PR representative!!! It was Brian Burke posting asking for help from community to help the community. Read More for details.
This is an extract from the post: "We have become aware that both NVIDIA and competitor?s cards are experiencing similar problems that are described as ?flickering?, ?rolling lines? or ?quivering? in different forum posts."
This is happening on both Radeon 9xxx and Geforce FX 5xxx cards but only some users are experiencing it. If you have no idea what this is all about, and you own Radeon 9xxx card or FX 5xxx card - that's good news for you! You are one of the many lucky ones.
If you however know exactly what this rolling lines problem is - I suggest you watch this forum thread very closely... (see below) ... Also, check it out to see if you can help nVidia and the community to come up with solution to the problem. Just check out this thread @ nvnews.net forum.
Update: This just in from nVidia PR rep: "It is against company policy for NVIDIA employees to post in forums. As such, I can not reply to your posts. We made an exception in this case.". So there you are folks, they can listen but can't speak (in public). Let's hope ATi doesn't borrow that page from this "company policy" hey ;)

As of mobo chipsets I love nVidia. As of vid. cards, screw them, from now on I go Radeon all the way. |

and in another year if Nvidia dominates the top with the graphics hardware, you'll say that about ATI. All companies have their ups and downs, but you must remember. In the end, they are a business. They will try to exploit whatever money they can from you. These are very major companies and they do nothing w/o the blessing of PR Reps and lawyers. You may think they're 'working for you', but they're only working for your money. In the end, they'll do what they have to to attain that. Do you think you are what hurt Nvidia? Do you think the benchmarks hurt Nvidia? Of course not. What hurt Nvidia was their move to new and before-its-time manufacturing devices. Nvidia may be taking a blow but the company is far from hurting or even in the red. They're still in the green and have more than enough time and money to dig themselves out of this temporary mess. |

What can I say, but well said. Things always change in the computer business and there will always be new innovations that change the way we look at computers and what they can do. Matrox was once the king of graphics cards and so was 3Dfx and so was other companies and all of them are pretty much gone now. At the end of the day, competition is good for the consumers as it drives down prices much quicker than without competition. The other bonus here is that product development is pushed forward. Image where we would be today if Intel was the only CPU manufactuere, we'd still be stuck with 386's or something similar or paying $$$$$$$$$$ for the latest CPU's. I don't tend to stick to one brand, but rather go with what offers me good value for money at the time I get it and does what I need it to do. Good luck to both Nvidia and ATI and keep up the rollout of new products, although I'd rather have a working graphics card rather than a new one every 3 months ;-) |

Its not Nvidias v-cards or mobo's that I have a problem with.. Its the way they have been dealing with the public & now all the sudden they realize that US!!! the customers are starting to think poorly of Nvidia & now they wanna act like the caring father figure.. (please help us help you, enter in our OC contest) I say blow me.. They need to go public & apologize to Omega for 1. |

I still don't get there whole "Employees aren't allowed to post on BBs" attitude, I think that's a huge part of the reason for ATi's turn-around and I think nVidia is missing out BIG TIME! (BTW-I STILL can't login to my "digitalwanderer" account, so I'll be digitalwonderer for awhile around here. |
