This is the first time the statement "double performance" from Nvidia is true...

Yes!
My bottom jaw hit the floor through the entire review that I read at hardware analysis, those benchmarks were absolutely insane!

The ut2k3/4 benchmarks were not all that impressive but I have to wonder just how much of it is really a cpu bottleneck, all of them were with bots and they use the cpu more than anything but I understand why they did it that way since it reflects actual gameplay more.
Here I am tweaking my 9800xt just to get it up to 7500 on 3dmark2k3 and I see those 12k+ benchmarks makes me want to just cry.

Ati is supposed to be putting out their product soon, I will check that one out before I buy a new card but so far nvidia has my money coming to them when this card hits the shelves, even if it is $600

The [H] benches were leaked hours ago... and look nothing like the first two sites that are "live"...

nVidia still blows anyway.

HardOCP are just full bunch of noobs who don't know how to make a proper vidcard review. I'm not saying Firing Squad's review is good, but it's decent.

Waiting for other sites review's ATM, hoping they could test these new generation cards more extensively. And not just use the same old recipe as with old (9800, 5900) generation.

Need for speed is like, TOTALLY, CPU bound.
and the other hardocp benches were not like for like rez/aa/af settings, the 6800 doing far more work with either aa, or af, or both, at higher res, still beat down the other cards.

That's a good review at Tom's. Can't argue with the benchmarks. What still concerns me is the shader quality in Far Cry.
The fact that it will also require a 480w psu, will put people off as well.
Can't wait to see what ATI come back at them with. Should be fun :)

The obvious quality difference in Far Cry is a bit worrying. Hopefully Nvidia can remove their previous hacks so it looks pretty and runs just as fast.

Since I would imagine only a minority of people have a 480+ W PSU, this could make it for a very expensive upgrade, worth it as it seems, but likely not affordable for everyone.

if you can afford that much for a gpu, you're not going to care about spending another $80 on a psu

ATI benchmarks will not only come out on top, but they will be with higher quality and some nicer features we havent even heard of yet.
The way it should always be played.

I wondered how long it would take before a zealot posted and ruined the thread.

Take a chill pill virus.

I hope ATI do come out on top, it can only be good for the customer if both companies keep pushing eachother.

Would it be possible to drop the fanboy comments? Why do people insist on making fools of themselves by being a blind drooling fanboy. Does it really matter who makes the best product as long as there are at least 2 major players killing each other for your $? & for the record. Neither company gives a damn about you. They are in it for the money. Fanboys are just pathetic.

I had to rub my eyes several times to believe thoose benchmarks...
I was expeting a 'sleeper fps increase', like another 5-10fps over 9800, with fixed Pixel Shaders so it could be just as fast as 9800 in Halo/Tomb Raider... I hadnt expected the double speed!!!
I have stacked money for a new card, and I believe it will take awhile longer before next ATI card is out on the shelves, so it seems like NV40 for me this time.

Worst thing is that 'older' cards will quickly fall of the hill now... With this increase even 5900/9800 wont even be interesting for comparision benchmarks in a few months...
