nVidia Emplyee RIPS Catalysts

I bet this Guy wished he'd stayed in bed this morning! Taken from Rage 3D's Forum.

Johnnyb, ATI's Cat 4.2 drivers are terrible (alright they just plain suck) with HDTV playback on either VMR7 or VMR9 using DXVA. I should know, I tried them myself on a 9600 pro. No problem on a GeForce FX 5700 though... As for the softer look on VMR9, again, the drivers and hardware are the ones doing the job here, not the decoder.

Also if the PC is rebooting on a crash, it's likely the BSOD kernel fault in the display driver. XP should tell you this after rebooting. In any case, our software has very little control over the problems you've mentioned since they sound ATI driver releated.

This is the head developer of their Foreware MM products.

Rage 3D.

I don't see what's wrong with what he said? If what he said was factual, I don't really see the problem?

He simply stated that ATI's drivers and hardware have some issues with rendering VMR9, and that Nvidia's hardware does not.

Where's the problem here? Everyone blasted him like "AT A TIME WHEN ATI IS MOPPING THE FLOOR WITH NVIDIA'S HARDWARE".......just remember that those comments are based on gaming benchmarks alone and not based on specific areas.

What comes to mind is the fact that people flat out said how much Intel sucks and AMD rules because of gaming performance, but in the specific area of DIVX encoding, Intel's cpus smacked AMD's.

I dunno, just a bunch of children, I guess. Have nothing better to do with their lives.

How about this? How about warp2search and other websites so some sort of ***** impartiality to these things - i.e. not ***** POST ABOUT THEM.

I'm tired of coming to this website and seeing flame wars brewing (though one could argue I made the first post on this one).

The fact is. I come to a site for news. A billion kids who have no idea wtf they're talking about is not what I would call interesting news. And eventually someone would've posted on here anyway.

Let's try to get some REAL information instead of BS like this. Leave that to the people that want to get involved with it.

I 100% agree. Blown way out of context.

I have to agree, with all those "kids" on the different forums everything turned just black & white. Nowadays your own personal favorite company is all good and the evil other company is just plain bad.

No longer are people able to admit that both companies have their good and their bad points.

If you tell something quite objective against the other company like in this above mentioned forum, the good vs evil war will start right away.

Too bad that the mods of forums like Rage3d only supports this although this is quite normal since they have sold their soul to ATI a long time agi.

Yeah, it's a little ridiculous. Anything remotely of that nature about ATI and the thread would have been closed immediately (even if it would have been in the non-ATI card section).

Ditto on W2S posting. I also wish they would be a little more professional and impartial but to be fair it doesn't look like they actually filter news and just post whatever is sent. At least I hope that is why news items like this slip through.

No one from any company should talk like a 12 year old kid posting a rant, because that's what it is. Don't care if it's true or false, the language just shows his ignorance.

And btw he said I'm sorry pretty quick. If he was soooo right why he apologized?

Because the part he apologised for was the bracketed "alright they just plain suck" part when describing problems with Cats and HDTV.

And rightly so. More power to him for repenting on using such language.

However, the main thrust of his post was still intact and he didn't apologise for pointing out that specific deficiency in the Catalyst drivers.
