Nvidia Detonator 43.00 Windows 2000 / XP Performance Evaluation

Today PNY Technolgies has released a formerly unknown Detonator driver version 43.00 for all Windows Operating Systems (see our news story here. Nvidia did not release a reference driver since December 3rd, 2002. In the meantime Microsoft released DirectX 9 and Futuremark Corp., formerly known as MadOnion, has released 3DMark 03 a hybrid DirectX 8 / 9 benchmark. As version 43.xx marks another major revision step from 42.xx anticipation towards this release is high and being the only currently known download location PNY servers are hit hard and even broadband connected Nvidia fans may not finish their download as fast as they might wish. Warp2Search pulled the 2K / XP version before publishing the news article and we did some fast testing. Read more

Well, after 2:30 hours of downloading (SLOW PAIN)
Unreal2 Work fine to me too.
I noticed small improvements in speed overall in games, Tested: Splinter Cell, GTA3 and Unreal2(Unreal2 looks awe and more faster)
System Here: XP1800+, Ti4200 128MB, 512 DDR333.
NvRefreshTool 2.1a worked like a charm for refresh override.
The BEST to me up to date.

Still a pile of s***, every driver since 42.01 brings a black flickery screen thats worse on your eyes than i'd imagine playing at 20hz would be, in Quake 3 if you ctrl-esc to another app (such as mirc in on top mode) or alt-enter to windowed then back.

every single one :o(

I can't imagine this to JUST effect q3, surely at least all q3engine games ? if not many openGL ones.

win xp
geforece 3 ti-500
q3@800x600x32 vync off

oops, lol, ok, i fixed it....
rah o/

r_swapinterval 1 or higher

if it's 0 = black flickery stuff after ctrl-esc, alt-tab, windowed and back, whatever

though, you only haveto set it to 1 immediately after it's gone screwey, you can go back to 0 again instantly and it's fine.

still odd that it only ahppens with drivers since 42.01
settign it to 1 does not mean you've turned on vysnc either, it's meant to be the min delay between each frame posted IF vsync IS on from what i remember, so it seems really odd to have any effect with vsync off always.

interesting. I've never had that problem. Maybe it's your card and not the drivers.

I am not one to test every driver release/leak, but even 41.09 messed Return to Castle Wolfenstein up for me. The sky would flicker. Is this the kind of thing you are talking about?

When will Nvidia get off their butts and get some new WORKING and CERTIFIED drivers out? They better show me something or I'm pouncing on the R350 the moment it ships.
