i havnt installed nforce drivers since i built my pc a few months ago, i'm using a remixed pack of drivers from Mwarheads (sp?) and the only updated thing in this new version seems to be the onboard LAN driver, which i dont use the onboard lan. (maybe audio's updated, but i dont use the onboard sound) |

Just installed the drives on my NForce2 400 and no critical problems here. Not sure whether it was there before, but now it is possible to speed test HDD's through the IDE-Controller properties in the Device Manager. Sadly enough they haven't fixed the CD-ROM issue about only supporting "Ultra DMA2 Ultra33", so one can only do cd-burning at 8x with these drivers (huray) |

The body of this news item just mentions WinXP, but it's out for Win2k as well. Enjoy. So far, it's working great. |

er yeah sure, it only takes 1200KB/sec to write a cd at 8x, hardly straining 33MB/s. The issue is likely you don't have dma enabled at all. |

heh that and afaik, IDE cdroms/cdrw's/dvd/dvdr/rw drives all run in Ultra DMA2 Ultra33 its only HDD's that use anything above DMA2. i gotta agree with FailedCRC, i'd look for something else as the problem. if dma is on, and your still having slow burning, then it may be the way you have the drives cabled, or theres some kind of conflict going on, perhaps IRQ. |

cool.. glad you got your prob sorted. i read that thread too, but in the end my sense of adventure won out now i have yet to test out cd burning.. but i've got used to not burning, since i purchased a cdrw, i've spent more on blank media than i have on my own pc lol.. so now i just download and delete lol. with that being said.. i'm sure my burning abilities havent changed. |
