No Holds Barred Interview with MSI

Hardware Zone have thrown up a no holds barred interview with MSI's Vincent Lai.

MSI is one of Taiwan?s largest motherboard manufacturer and they have captured the hearts of many users around the world. One of the top-tier motherboard manufacturers in the world, MSI has grown to be a company that produces not only motherboards, but a whole lot of other interesting hardware as well. Today, we talk to one of their top executives, Vincent Lai, Manager of MSI?s Marketing Department. This interview was conducted late of last year and due to the sensitivity of the topics discussed, we were only allowed to release the interview today.

HWZ : If MSI moved aggressively to provide graphics solutions based on the ATI RADEON range of graphics processors, how do you think that would impact the graphics market? And how does it affect your close relationship with NVIDIA?

Vincent : I don?t think it will affect our relationship with NVIDIA because we have held back our plans for a very long time and in fact, we are one of the last manufacturers to move into the ATI camp. In a way, MSI have given NVIDIA a lot of time to pick up in their competitiveness, but due to market forces and customer demands, we have to add ATI's products into our VGA line-up in order to stay competitive.

Nice interview. I don't often look at MSI's products too much because I am one of those folks that just sticks to what he knows (Asus boards and name-branded ram). I've used either Intel or Asus boards forever now. I like their stability, though I will be honest I'm not too happy with my current board in terms of ram support(but that's due to the lower cost solution that it was when I had purchased it, I will fix this in the near future).

I think these motherboard OEMs should be more open to the public as you hardly hear from their PR departments or their people very often. I think it was a very informative and good interview.
