Nikon Recalls Melting Camera Batteries

Nikon has launched a sizable recall for the EN-EL3 model of lithium ion battery shipped with its digital SLR cameras that could melt and burn unsuspecting consumers. The Tokyo-based manufacturer and the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) posted separate warnings regarding the batteries this week, of which Nikon is believed to have sold 710,000 worldwide.
