For all you nforcers out there, this driver has Legacy drivers for the IDE driver. So, technically, they should work on even the nforce2 boards, without any modding. At last, a Ethernet driver I can disable, without blue-screening XP. And also, the audio driver has a limited buffer problem. easily fixed, but it shouldn't really need fixing. Comeon nvidia, lets see a genuine Unified Driver, released, without having to resort to modding. |

It's about GOD DAMN TIME! As for the ethernet driver BSOD-ing...are you installing just the driver or the entire nVidia software as well (firewall, etc.)? When I first built my system I installed everything and it would BSOD on me but when I decided I didn't need all that, I installed just the driver and it worked fine. No more BSODs. |

Just the driver, as I use a software firewall + a NAT router. >>When I first built my system I installed everything and it would BSOD on me but when I decided I didn't need all that, I installed just the driver and it worked fine. No more BSODs. Try right-clicking the tray icon, for your nvidia LAN, and disable it. Thats where it usually blue-screens, for me. |
And also, the audio driver has a limited buffer problem. easily fixed, but it shouldn't really need fixing.
What do you mean "a limited buffer problem", and how is it "easily fixed"?? |

The buffers are limited to 20 buffers, and can be easily identified in games like Battlefield 2, HL2 Episode 1, Counterstrike Source, and a few others, where you suddenly lose some sound effects. I've noticed this in HL2 Ep1, where the sound suddenly cuts off, in lots of action areas, and gun battles. To go from 20 buffers to 52, run regedit.exe, goto this reg key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlClass{4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} and do a search for Num2DVoices and Num3DVoices you should find them in one of the subkeys "000xSettingsVAPU", delete them, reboot, now hopefully you should have 52 buffers. You may find that a few games, namely the ones I mentioned, are a bit slower, due to the fact that the sound chip is now doing more work. I don't take credit for this, IF it works for you, as I found this in another forum, and tested it myself to find it did indeed work. |
