I gotta be honest, I didn't like the first few sets of Omegadriver dets. Not at all. The shimmering was too much for me too.

But on his last set I finally figured out that you can either install the "performance" or "best visuals" version. The "best visuals" versions has the supey-high LOD shimmer setting, but the "performance" setting has proven to be faster for me than the generic nVidia dets of the same number. (Both in 98se & XP)

I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you haven't tried Omegadrives det-sets lately you might want to give them another go. The O-man has listened to what people had to say about his first few sets and has responded admirably.

Besides, there isn't gonna be any other new dets out until this weekend sometime when the 41.32 set leaks. ;)

How about some benchmarks??? I know omega did wonders with ATI's crap but I never thought about trying his Detonators... The Nvidia drivers always worked flawless on my machine..

If some1 can spot or make some benchmarks with Omega's 40.72 vs Nvidia's 40.72's that would be great..

Omega isn't going for speed- he tweaks the drivers so they look better. If you manage to get identical visual quality, the Omega drivers will be faster, but the Omegas go way above the nVidia ones in quality- you'll probably see a small drop in performance, but quality is so much better that you completely forget about speed loss.
