MSN Hotmail could be replaced. For the last seven months, Microsoft has been beta testing a radically different Web mail client, one that makes Hotmail's largely standard HTML interface look like yesterday's news.Code-named "Kahuna," the e-mail client supports drag and drop, right-clicking, multi-select and a much more Outlook-like look and feel. Built from the ground up with AJAX technology, the beta program should roll out to the general Hotmail user population next year.

I miss the days of being able to get all of my mail via Outlook/Outlook Express. I've always liked the idea of a mail "console" of sorts. Hotmails UI isn't as good as it once was, and I've noticed it's slower, too. Hopefully this is a step in the right direction. Personally, I'm hoping Gmails POP3 ability will force Yahoo and Hotmail to go back to it (although my Hotmail account still works most of the time using Outlook Express...) |

I still can use Outlook and Outlook express to access hotmail. If you a long time MSN member, like 5 years which I am, they will still allow you to access your account via these programs for free. Otherwise they want you to pay about $20 a year to do this. |

That's what I've noticed, but occasionally it gives me random errors that don't seem to be related to a server outage or anything of the sort. If Yahoo did it, too...I'd be set. |
