Need For Speed Underground Demo

Posted by: [NT] on: 11/04/2003 05:16 PM [ Print | 12 comment(s) ] · 7195 views

EA has released a demo for the anticipated next title in the Need for Speed series (#7). NFS Underground isn't about classic race cars like Ferrari and Porsche like the last games. This time round its hi-tech tuned Japanese cars out of The Fast & The Furious.
So find your bottle of NOS and buckle up for some serious street racing!

The demo is 220 MB and can be found here: 3D Gamers

*Big sigh*

As usual it's only the graphics that count in this game....and not the driving experience and realism.....Fancy graphics don't make a good car game..... I was hoping this would be something to keep me occupied during this winter, but this game is plain boring.

I agree partially with this, as in Hot Persuit 2, the realism was traded for an arcadish speed rush.
Porsche Unleashed was by FAR the most realistic of them all...

But NOW, Microsoft holds the crown for being realistic with Rallisport Challenge.

But THIS game is NOT BORING either. That is the thing - realistic IS boring to many.... This goes beyong real for those who just want the HUGE SPEED RUSH.

The Graphics are INSANE - and the frame rates are UNHEARD of! My TI4200 at 1024/768 is TOTALLY smooth! And I am FUSSY!

Real? Nah. FUN?? The FUNNEST EVER!

Don't think they were going for the sim crowd with this one. More along the lines of Midnight Club II (i.e. arcade racer). Taken as such, I'm enjoying the demo.

Well, this isn't what the MCO crowd wanted, but at least it's kinda kewl. I found it to be fun. I was hoping for better graphics and physics than NFS: HP2, which is true. Also, they got some of the cars I wanted to drive IRL; but not too many cars, 20 isn't enough, 50 would be great!

I'm definately gonna get this game when it comes out!

Since when does Geforce2 become DX9 compatible? I thought GF3 was not even DX9 compatible.

I enjoyed NFS:HP2 on PS2 much more than the slow response PC version. Hope they made the controls better otherwise it wil be PS2 for me again.
Anyway, IMHO, FPS/Flight and other Sims/RPG/RTS r better on PC and racing/sports/fighting on the consoles

There's a big difference between DX9 compatibility and whether a card can use DX9 shaders.
The entire Geforce range is DX9 compatible, as well as most of the Radeon's (if not all). You're thinking of whether a card can use DX9 shaders or not. The only cards that can use DX9 shaders are the Radeon 9500 and up and the GeforceFX range.
Hope that clears that up for you sak500.
