Mod ur Radeon 9500/9700 cards to FireGLZ1/ FireGLX1 @ Xbitlabs.com

Couple of days ago www.xbitlabs.com
published a report
here
,on converting ATI 9500 card to ATI 9700 using Software only Unwinder patch , it
did reported that
not all mods end
in SUCCESS .
Today it has
published how to convert
ATI 9700 (@
US $318 approx.) card to
ATI Fire GLX1
(@ US $ 600 approx.) and also turning
ATI 9500 Card
(@ US $150 to
US $183 approx. ) to
ATI FireGL Z1
card (@ US $ 500approx. ) by hardware mod.
I wonder what is ATI thinking of this. Recently it has risen to top as
(performance leader) after its introduction of ATI 9700 .But if these tricks are
successfully executed, ATI might loose a large chunk of revenue earned by
selling top-of-the-line cards.

Oh well =P I'll sum up my previous novel in a few words: "ATI won't lose money." I noticed the HTML error right after I posted the comment...looked pretty bad. |

How much you wanna bet that that ATI will release new drivers for the 9500/9700 that claim to meet/beat the FX speeds. They just left some features turned off until the right moment. Smart, very smart. Although I guess Nvidia could be doing the same thing. |

Well, I honestly don't think that ATI can pull off things with drivers that NVIDIA can. Problems are few and far between with NVIDIA drivers...I know that I never had a graphical error or specific game problem with my GeForce2, 3, or 4...and I can probably name five or six game problems with my Radeon 9700 Pro, and I've only had it two or three weeks =P If NVIDIA made drivers for the 9700 Pro, we'd quite possibly have the perfect graphics card I'm sure that ATI will have new drivers, or something else software related to combat the release of the GeForce FX (maybe some new software for DivX or a new DivX version since their recent partnership with DivX formed?), but I'm not sure that they'll be able to pull it off as well as NVIDIA can with their software when ATI releases a new product. |

Well i just ordered a 9500 sapphire 128mb card - if it works at 9700 pro rates then so be it, otherwise i can get my money back. Sweet. I'll still be getting an FX but i can wait longer, for the better version. My ti4200 (gainward) has just died and i can't face missing out on unreal II hehehe |

correct, ATI's driver department is too unexperienced to pull now a major performance increase of only through software. They are simply not ready yet. Thought this hardware accelerated divx decoding indeed could be released at the same time when the GF FX hits the stores. Just strange that ATI now makes the same mistakes nvidia already made before: making it too easy for user to mod their gamer card into a pro card. Nvidia learnt out of its errors. The GF4 are no longer modable into full Quadros... |
