It was the first of the high rez led mice that actually worked on most surfaces. as soon as they moved the same tech to the regular 'intelimouse optical (v1.1)' then people couldn't get away from the oversized explorer v3 fast enough, the way the base of the back stuck into your palm just by your wrist was terrible.
