Microsoft's Anti-Spyware program is causing troubles for people who also use Symantec's Norton Anti-Virus software; apparently, a recent update to Microsoft's anti-spyware application flags Norton as a password-stealing program and prompts users to remove it.

Well, Norton software makes my machine slower than the spyware/virus it is supposed to prtect me from. There was a test done in NeoWin Forums where their posters tested a lot of Antivirus programs. If someone remember that link, please post it.....might be a bit outdated by now, but it will be very surprising I assure you. |

Use NIS 2006 instead of a beta program. It runs fine on my low tier AMD64 3200+ 1gb DDRAM system. |

Agreed. Norton is a system-hog from hell. I'd rather have virus/trojan/malware that that horrid program bogging me down. I can't explain how many tech support calls relate to the Norton suites. I keep MS Anti-Spyware and Kaspersky on my machine. I never let 'em run in the background but simply update the sigs and run a scan once every 2-3 weeks. Unless you have a habit of using IE for normal browsing or open a lot of random executables, that's really all anyone needs. |
