According to the latest roadmap for server processors, Intel upgraded its series naming to be more clear and easy to read. The new naming will also include the power class such that users are clearer in mind that what kind of chassis is suitable to their need. The new series naming will begin in the next quad-core Clovertown based Xeon coming in November.
Quad-core C;overtown belongs to the Xeon 5300 family. The power class will be indicated in its model name, while X for performance optimized with 120W TDP. The first X class quad-core server processor will be Xeon X5355 (2.66GHz/4MB x 2 L2/1333MHz FSB) at $1172, according to the roadmap.
