Is ASUS Cheating?

In the past, many accusations have been raised towards ASUS. Many websites and even competitors have complained about their ?PEG Link Mode? feature that actually overclocks the user?s graphics card without their knowledge.
Adrian Wong wrote an article about their trick, and even Gigabyte has mentioned this issue in the past. In my opinion, this is a very dirty move and may cause stability/warranty issues. Overclocking is fun ? but only when the user is aware of it.

Um...it flat out tells you that depending on what setting you choose it can make your card unstable or warm. It's right there in the BIOS setting window itself. I find it funny that this is for one board, too. My P5B has that setting and again - it's clear in the BIOS and the documentation that it's a setting to use AT YOUR OWN RISK to get better performance. |

The article talks about the motherboard increasing the CPU vcore, nothing to do with the graphics card (although its mentioned at the beginning). This is not a huge deal imo. and I dont see increasing the how increasing the vcore by 0.05V would cause a stock cpu to all of a sudden overheat and blue screen. Must be some other issues at play. btw my NF7 will undervolt vcore by about the same (0.05v), and overvolt vdimm ~.1V. |
