Intel's Mobile Core 2 Duo: Performance at a Cost

Today, Intel released a Core 2 Duo processor for laptops, code-named Merom. It's safe to say that with the new mobile Core 2 Duo CPUs, we are seeing some of the performance gains promised. The mobile Core 2 Duo T7600 processor clocks at 2.33GHz and sports 4MB of shared L2 cache. When the mobile processors were put in actual systems--the Alienware Aurora m5550 and Dell XPS M1710--unfortunately battery life suffered a little, lasting just 2 hours and 23 minutes.
