DriverHeaven have a new guide out! for using Creative's Audigy 2 ZS drivers on your Sound Blaster Live! - Audigy - Audigy 2 sound card! Here's a snip.
For months I have been trying to get the Audigy 2 ZS drivers to work on my Audigy 2 due to its many benefits. It took time and I got it installed, so I have made a guide on how to install the drivers on your Creative Soundblaster Live! or Audigy or Audigy 2. These drivers includes some improvements and definately worth taking a look at.
I installed this on my Audigy 2 on Windows XP Professional, I have never tried it on Live! or Audigy 1 but they have gotten it to work through this method. I have explained how to install it on an Audigy 1/Live!, but until someone explains the method clearly for those cards I cannot gurantee it will work. Due to Live! not having the EAX Advanced HD chip, there are a few limitations such as no time scaling. Audigy 1 does not have DVD audio and depending on your card, it will not support surround modes higher than it can at maximum (i.e. SB Audigy 1 will not support 7.1) and bass boost is disabled on 5.1/6.1 modes, that is when bass redirection comes into play. so dont freak out if one of them is disabled.

Why would anyone install a driver that is made for Audigy 2 zs,the rest of those cards dont have those special features.Think about it man. U buy a Ford Mustang 5.0 and decide to install a Dodge Hemi. Get real. |

I have an SB Live, and i've been using these drivers for a couple of years now (since YouPax III), and I'm telling you they are alot better with much clearer sound! You can only talk when you've tested them, if you do.. you'll be very pleased! |

I used the Audigy 2 Drivers too, but that was when there were no new Audigy 1 drivers. Now I just use the applications of the Audigy 2ZS (just not AudioHQ), because they are more up to date. Eax Console is better then PlayCenter to setup CMSS. |

These special procedures are just weird. It's really simple to get the latest available creative driver to work with an SB Live! (Value here). First, just uninstall any current creative driver, so the ms xp default driver is in place. Then download the latest creative driver for the highest-end audigy card. Extract that setup to a folder (with subfolders intact, of course), and simply use Update Driver in dev.man., pointing to the folder with the inf's in it. The driver is even WHQL for the SB Live! too! Funny why creative never bothered to update universally, as it works great, and does indeed fix a couple problems (like in the SurroundMixer, when changing from whatever to no effect, the wav mixer sound used to be gone until fiddled with it again). |
