At a Doom 3 event, id Software CEO reveals that the upcoming shooter will appear at the annual frag-fest, says development of PlayStation 3 and Xbox 2 games "will happen."

Hollenshead also teased the crowd with information about the upcoming QuakeCon, "We'll have Quake IV multiplayer to play," he said "And because it's also the 10-year anniversary of QuakeCon, we'll have a few other surprises as well."

I'm still really pessimistic about Quake 4. There's just something about the Doom engine that moves too slowly for a game like Quake. I've got a 6800 GT and a P4 3.2 and even when the FPS are always 50-60...the game just seems to crawl. It's just not geared for anything action packed. I don't know if that's just D3 movement and scrolling, but it's expansion works the same way. I'm guessing the horrible lighting will go away, but the game still crawls at ANY framerate.
Until I see Quake in action, I'll have my doubts.

Oh good, another soulless iD game wrapped around a good engine. Or am I 1 of the only people who doesn't think iD actually makes good games? Just good game engines

Raven isn't being given enough credit here. SoF II may have been a PoS, but everything upto that point has been really solid. I expect Q4 to be quite the game.

iD does exactly what it needs for the small company that they are. Make a decent game off their engine, sell the engine rights and make money off both and only have to pay 20 employees salaries. w/o iD, you might as well have kissed Unreal3 Engine good bye. JC drives the industry, not Sweeny.
