Halo 2 (Xbox) Coming To PC ?

Posted by: Newsfactory on: 02/01/2006 03:29 PM [ Print | 7 comment(s) ] · 1462 views

Bungie has updated the jobs section on its website revealing that it is currently looking for several people to fill jobs geared towards PC applications. Bungie is currently looking for Graphics, Audio, Network and Game Programmers, all PC related. Knowledge of DirectX9, Xbox SDK, and compatibility issues are required, and it further states "Want to work on the biggest franchises for Microsoft Game Studios?" Ok, it's a little bit far fetched, but who knows.

Not *that* far fetched actually. It's pretty much the same timeframe it took for Halo 1. Considering that it's not THAT nig of a jump graphically, I don't think a PC port would be all that tough. I just recently picked up Halo2 now that I have a 360, and I think the graphics are pretty sparse compared to most PC games. It's still a total blast, but I can't see it making today's PC work hard.

It shouldn't need to make a PC work hard at all, since the first Halo ran on an Xbox, then later a PC, Halo 2 should be the same as the Xbox 1 specs haven't change. But I get the feeling for what ever reason they will up the specs for the PC version.

For whatever reason, Halo 1 ran like a DOG when it first came out on the PC. Compared to some comparable games on the PC, it was chugging. I'd suspect the port was a little rushed.
From what I've seen of Halo 2 running on the 360 in high-res, a PC should hopefully be able to run it at 1280x1024 at 100fps. With that said...I *know* it won't for some reason.

I hope it will run on my current PC, which ran Halo 1 great, smooth, but only at lower resolutions

Meh, I'll pass. Their first attempt at bringing Halo to the PC (which is where it started development) royally sucked and it's support sucked equally.

It was something to do with the shaders, if you turned those off it would run fine.

Maybe just bad porting or optimization.
