Halo fans will have to upgrade their computer if they want to follow Master Chief's adventures on the PC. Microsoft has announced that the PC version of Halo 2 will only work on the new version of Windows called Vista. The decision could make it expensive for many to play the game if they have to buy the new version of Windows and extra hardware for their PC. Q: Will Halo 2 for Windows Vista be compatible with other Windows operating systems? A: Halo 2 for Windows Vista will ship exclusively for the Windows Vista platform More

Halo 2 sucks anyways. This will be a problem when more games will be released on Vista only, and no hax can make them work in Windows XP.

Hmm, oh well. I guess I just won't play Halo 2. There are many other games I can play instead, that does NOT require me to upgrade to Vista.
I might pick it up though once it appears in the discount bargin bin.

I'd treat this just like any other game that supposedly had no backward compatibility with old OS's. Just wait 24 hours and someone will likely have a Win XP/NO-CD 2-in-1 executable.
There's NO reason this game shouldn't work on XP, other than for a selling point for Vista.
There will be a patch, so if you're concerned...don't be.
With that said, I'd suspect the free/cheap Vista public previews (the kind that last a full year) will be out well in time for this.

Oh look, Billy Boy is trying to make everyone upgrade again by waveing little ol' Halo 2 infront of it.

Can we all say this is a underhand piece of shit tactic?

HELL YES.

Either there will be alot of bitching and screaming for this to be on WinXP, or, nobody will buy it.

Face it Bill, you see this as a way of selling Vista because NOBODY WOULD BUY IT ANYWAYS, we have NO REASON TOO.

And claiming this game will have to run on "Newest DX10 hardware" is a complete and utter beyond joke, considering the old version runs fine on even OLDER hardware.

So lets see, new OS, and.......the only reason to buy it is to get Halo 2

Great Bill, the people that will salivate themselves to death in ORDER to play Halo 2 will just pirate it AND Vista.

Bravo retard, bravo.

It's not like they're forcing you to buy either. Halo 2's not on some consoles either. Hardly worth complaining about

For most people it will be cheaper to buy a Xbox and the game and upgrade if they wanted it that bad. Which has probably already happened.
