Looks like Nvidia saw Rancho's ATI R350 post and decided to can their GeForce FX, as the photochop looked better than there DustBuster....Hehe
NVIDIA UK HAS REFUSED to comment on a posting on a 3D bulletin board claiming that the GeForce FX is for the chop.According to the rumour, posted at x-3DFX, Nvidia is canning the GeForce FX and has told its foundry, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp (TSMC), to stop when 100,000 NV30 are produced. The same posting claimed that Nvidia will now concentrate on NV31, NV34, and NV35.

This rumour is obviously bullshit. They've already invested too much time and money into the thing and have already started producing it. Whomever posted this crap just want attention. What a loser!!! |

and guess which "News" site, roflmao, is posting it as news. You guessed it that intreped perveyor of all thats BS or uninformed "The Inquirer" Personally if they were able to move fast on the 35 I could almost see it but it really does just sound like more ATI wishful thinking that they have cowered the Nvidia Beast instead of just lucking out on beating em to market once in a while. |

If they have pulled the plug on it, it's the smartest move they could make. Yes they invested a lot of time/money in it, but they've invested a lot more time/money in their name/reputation. If the FX is half the unwielding noisy beast it's made out to be it's going to be only the silly enthusiasts card-o-choice this season. Yes they'll lose a lot by just canning it now, but they'd lose a HELL of a lot more if they just kept up pretending that the FX is a total failure before it's even released. If this story is true, (and I think it is), than nVidia has figured out what the rest of us already knew and is biting the bullet and moving on. Not an easy move, not a fun move; but the best move they could make right now. Admitting a failure and moving on will be a hell of a lot cheaper than continuing to deny reality and all the jokes on the net about your card and continuing to bill it as "the gamer's choice" I think the final straw was a bit of a misunderstanding by Mr.Hu. I don't think he was misquoted yesterday about the R350 being a chopped down R300, (It's not, the RV350 is the chopped R300...the R350 is the next generation of R300, the FX killer. |

It would be the smart thing to do but when have computer companies ever done anything smart. This smells like what happened to Digital. |
