GeForce 7950 GS?

Posted by: Newsfactory on: 09/26/2006 04:18 PM [ Print | 5 comment(s) ] · 930 views

We have just received a word from a video card manufacturer. Speaking off the record, the source claims that Nvidia is working on a GeForce 7950 GS . The details are still blurry at this moment due to the premature revelation. As you probably figured from the name, the 7950 GS will be a bit slower then 7950 GT, and it will be cheaper in order to counter ATI?s X1900?s price.

and how about they quit being assholes and make an AGP version that costs the same as PCI-E (or at least an adapter). And I don't wanna hear any BS about PCI-E being faster b/c we all know that isn't relevant with any of today's games.

I can appreciate your point of view GURU as I'm also stuck with an AGP Mobo for the moment. However I can easily see nVidias point, why should they invest in an old technology which is fast disappearing.
I've just resigned myself to the fact that my next major PC upgrade will have to be a new Mobo and graphics card there's just no two ways about it. All I'm really waiting for is DirectX 10 compatible cards to come out then I'll wade in.

the thing is that Nvidia doesn't have to do anything. All that is needed is the bridge chip on the card (just like the fist gen PCI-e cards except reversed and the few 7800GSs floating around) or give me an adapter (would be a problem for a lot of cases, but I don't use one :P). I want to buy a $300-500 card, but can't b/c then I would need to replace MB, CPU & RAM (for AM2, no point buying new crap if you don't upgrade). I know they want the dough, but they're not gaining anything from ppl like us if they keep our options this limited. I'm never a cheap skate, but I have no money, literally. $8K to pay off on a car, more school yet to pay and already $20K in loans. If they had a little compassion they could help little poor 'ol me out :(

I'm personally just hoping they stop rehashing this current generation to death (there are so many 7x series cards out there I can't even keep them all straight) and start focusing on the 8x series people are all waiting for.
