Interesting. I've always thought of GameStop being the lesser of the two. The EBGames stores I've seen look to be better run and generally nicer. GameStops are hit or miss. I've seen some that are in strip centers that are on the verge of small-time local shops and others that are really nice and massive.
Oh well, I guess there goes competition. You either go with a retail giant like Target/Best Buy, buy online, or go to the ONLY game store chain.

Well up untill October of 2004 Gamestop was owned by Barnes and Noble bookstores. So as it was EB never really had a chance against them, especially the way BN buys up competing companies. There had been rumors a few years ago of BN buying EB and turning them all in to Gamestops, but EB always refused the offers.

That really sucks. Not sure if it's like this all around the country, but GameStop just feels more "ghetto" than EB.
The employees seem like the people that couldn't get on at BestBuy or CircuitCity. Not that EB is a huge jump, but at the very least they either hire REAL gamers or train them well.
I won't even mention the store locations that are in run-down strip malls that haven't gotten a customer in ages.
Hopefully we'll see the GameStops close some of their pointless locations and take the EB model.

I actually like that they have locations that no one knows about, thats who i get games when everywhere else is out of stock, that and the fact their isnt an EB for about 45 minutes in any direction from me, and all that works there are ps2 fanboys.
