If you recall, Gainward launched a 512MB AGP based 7800 GS recently which actually had 20 pipelines instead of 16. Essentially the card was a 7800 GT in disguise and was above and beyond the performance of any other AGP card available. Gainward have a new card on the way with the exact same naming scheme as before except with the addition of a ?+?. The full name is the BLISS 7800 GS SILENT 512MB GS+. . The new ?+? refresh part looks set to move the specs away from 7800 GT territory and instead move them toward the 7900 GT. AGP users rejoice!

Or rather: agp users switch for pci-express if you are looking for high-performance in much more sane prices. |

Perhaps switching to PCI-E would be wise. But when you have 3 computers based on Agp graphics, and all 3 systems are overclocked between3.6Ghz to 3.9Ghz, then I dont think its worthy of a new motherboard, processor, memory, and powersupply. With systems this fast It would be almost a waist of money to upgrade all major parts for a mild performance gain, Unless you are rich and have money burning a hole in your pocket. The card will be the same or lower in price as a 7900GT PCI-E I would emagine. |
