Gainward sending out fake GS Geforce cards?

While I was looking for a new graphic card, I stumbled over the seemingly nice Gainward Geforce 6800 "Golden Sample" cards (http://www.gainward.de/new/products/ultra_2000/comparison.html). I wanted to have some more information about them so I visited Gainwards european website (http://www.gainward.de/new/main.html) and guess what I found after searching just a few seconds in the forums?

It looks like a bunch of people received standard Nvidia reference cards instead of the highly praised "Golden Sample" versions. So there was no red PCB and no "Enhanced Fan Cooling" like on all the pictures and feature lists from Gainward, not to mention the higher clock rates.

Can you say "packaging error"? Is this really NEWS, hm? Haven't you ever bought a bunch of oranges or whatever at the store and found out a few were moldy once you came home, is that an example of the store trying to rip you off? Stop being such drama queens, jesus! |

thats actually a bad analogy. no the store isnt trying to rip you off of oranges, but if people purchased a "golden sample" labeled video card, then find out its not, they have a right to be pissed off.. a better analogy would have been, ordering a dodge viper and getting a mini-van instead. |

No, it's a VERY GOOD analogy. Mistakes always happens. You're not so daft you actually believe Gainward would do this on purpose do you? |

You might want to read the whole thread and there are other threads on that problem aswell. Its not just 1 or 2 people who received this and did you read the one response from the Gainward employee? He said that the first range of cards are indeed reference cards and intended to. Funny no word or picture says that on their product listing. Also no employee replied any further on that problem leaving it as "normal" in the air, even though there are more and more such threads. God, I hate it when uninformed people have to spit out their holy opinion at all costs... |

Never mind FaaR, if you check his posts almost all contain negative comments about something. But don't blame him, he doesn't know any better. Otherwise he would have done so. |

I wonder if you'd be able to say the same if you were "screwed" in such a deal..... ......and I quoted crewed because, I left it in the hands of Gainward to correct the situation. They have the last word if "screwed" fits there or not. ....and yes, the PR guy's words in the forum were not too encouraging..... |
